It is my first time to buy on Amazon and a surprise to me. I purchased this camera for my new home security system. The picture quality is good, especially the night vision, I don't have any issue with image quality, it works wonderfully. For this price, I must say, it is a perfect deal, value to buy it. I have some bad neighbor, I installed this camera to my garage, it is about 2 cars wide, and I can clearly make out the faces and objects. I am very satisfied with this camera, really like it. In the darkness, the camera can capture clearly white and black image, now I know who is at my garage and what are they doing, it is good. The shipping is so fast and price is good. I will definitely buy more in the future!

This small camera worked great out of the box.I set it up in our vacation cabin and it gives a nice view of the whole room.I connected it to an inexpensive video capture card and will be able to access it via [...] via the internet (we have Hughes Satellite internet).I will be able to check the cabin from home to make sure that everything is alright.I may purchase more of these to put at the front door and other locations. For the money you can't beat this camera.I'm not sure how well it will work out for an outdoor location, but I am pleased with the indoor picture-it looks much like a picture that you see from security cameras, certainly not high resolution, but for money I don't think you will find a better bargain.

About a year ago I bought a low-end 4-camera security system. 2 of the cameras have failed so far and a third one was starting to have problems.Since I'm near the end of my warranty, I decided to try a different brand for a replacement.

This one is fantastic - I had to go outside after dark to be sure I didn't leave the lights on!It is so good that I just ordered another to keep on hand.

Also, the field of vision is very wide and shows most of my back yard from the single camera.

As an added bonus, I was able to use the mounting brackets and the wiring from my Q-See unit without any adapters.

Astak CM-818W Wired Security and Surveillance Camera for Interference-Free Monitoring Review

Astak CM-818W Wired Security and Surveillance Camera for Interference-Free Monitoring
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We decided to buy a surveillance camera after my mom's car kept getting vandalized and flat tires. We didn't have much money. and after looking here on Amazon. This camera seemed like the best choice..

The package came with the camera, an 100 foot cable, and manual..The picture quality is very very good for a $40 camera. The picture is very clear during the day. and still pretty good during nighttime. You just need to angle the camera right. We took the spring off of our window and left the window open a crack so we can point the camera facing outside towards our car. With the spring in the way nothing was visible. which was a disappointment

Another disappointment was that the camera isn't very discreet. I thought, yeah it looks a little big,but we can probably hide it pretty well. We can hide it pretty well, but red little lights shine off of it(they're on the lens). This can be kind of obvious especially at night time.

The good this is you can connect the camera into any TV with RCA inputs. Or you can do it the way I do and plug it into a capture card and record onto your computer. The cheapest capture card your can get is $9 off of ebay. I recommend this setup for anyone low on cash & looking for a surveillance camera.

Easy cap comes with recording software for your computer.First install the easy cap on to your computer. After, plug the camera's output cables into the easy cap and record. We do this over night. you can set the video quality to be good or a lower resolution (to save up computer space since the files are big). We then look through the videos the next day and delete them off of our computer.

The mic on the cam works good. But I can't really say much else about it. Easy cap doesn't capture the sound well. that seems to be the worst down side to it.

Decent camera for 40 dollars.

If I ever get a chance to. I will upload video quality of the camera so you all can get a look.

4 out 5 stars

Mini Wireless Color Camera with Microphone Review

Mini Wireless Color Camera with Microphone
Average Reviews:

For the money, this is a great little system. Easy, out of the box setup, nothing to it. Video was surprisingly good. I checked it out on two different TV's. One is an older 36" CRT Panasonic, the other a 32" LCD Sharp. No interference from the interior of the home was detected. (You know, it transmits through walls, ect..) Got this to keep an eye on the teenagers still living at home. Man, they are going to think I have a 6th sense! The audio works great too. Wish I would have bought a larger multi-camera system. In fact I am considering that now for other projects. For under $40 bucks, I don't think you can go wrong. Don't expect Hi Def, but it really is quite good.

Panasonic BL-C230A Wireless Internet Security Camera Review

Panasonic BL-C230A Wireless Internet Security Camera
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted a "nanny cam" to monitor a new nanny, but felt a little uncomfortable about having one of the hidden ones.I felt that having a visible camera known to the nanny was a more respectful approach, although I would need several of them to monitor multiple areas since the locations would be known (and could potentially be avoided).

The Panasonic BL-C230A seemed like a great choice as it is from a major international brand and the reviews of its other wired and wireless cameras indicated that they were well received.

PROS
1. It's cute - It could star as a character in a Japanese cartoon. The nanny cam is a cube about 3" x 3" x 3 1/4" (approximately) and actually looks cute with its single eye and single antenna that looks like an ear.It has a high quality look to it with its high gloss white finish and reminds me of a smaller version of an old Sony Dream Machine alarm clock. It actually looks like it belongs on a nightstand in the bedroom or in a kitchen. It does not look out of place in a home and does not have a "tech" feel to it.I think this is a major plus as I really don't want the nanny to feel like I'm trying to determine if she is a terrorist.
2. Uses Wi-Fi 802.11 b only, g only, b/g both
3. Free lifetime use of Panasonic's "dynamic DNS server" - (more on this later)
4. Easy setup (maybe) - Easy to use paper instructions limited to 3 sheets of paper (of which only 2 are necessary).Sheet 1 shows step-by-step instruction on how to plug the camera into your router with a cable (not supplied and necessary even for wireless in the setup phase) and to connect the power cable.Sheet 2 is the sheet on how to configure the camera using your computer. This is the part that has the potential to be alarming or at least uncomfortable if you're not lucky enough to have UPnP (universal plug and play) on your router.(More on this later.)
5. Great interface with web browsers - Once your device is set up for internet access (more on this later) it has a fairly intuitive interface using Internet Explorer with an Active X control (and also on my Apple Safari although I used my PC with Vista for the camera setup with my Apple Mac for the router changes). There is a viewing screen that allows for 3 resolutions (192x144, 320x240, 640x480).There is a graphical control on the left of the viewing screen with arrows up/down and left/right for tilt and pans. What's nice is there is an auto tilt and auto pan button that will cause the camera to sweep back and forth quickly to give a quick overview of the room.Clicking on a part of the viewing screen will redirect the camera to focus on that spot. There is also multi-camera support for what appears to be up to 16 separate cameras.
6. Fantastic image quality!(It is definitely grainy in low-light, but that's to be expected.)
7. Infrared body heat detection system - does not work if using only browsers but works well using the optional record software install
8. Sound detection - Camera can be set to record not just with body movement triggers but sound triggers.
9. Zoom ability - Only with the optional recording software installed.Does not zoom using browsers only.
10. Audio - (Not on iPhone browser or Google Chrome, however)
11. Mountable - Comes with mounting screws and a safety wire in case it falls from your wall
12. Seems to be Apple compatible (except the initial setup and for video recording which appears to require installation of software different from using just a web browser, although I have not yet tested the video recording feature yet) - Works on my Apple Safari web browser as well as Internet Explorer (with Active X).

The system requirements written on the outside of the Panasonic box seem to indicate only Windows XP SP2 and Vista with Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8 are compatible, but this may be true only for the additional software to set up video recording and the initial camera setup. The browsers seem adequate so far for just watching streaming video and taking still photos as well as maneuvering the camera. I cannot get sound, however, using my Apple iPhone Safari browser or Google Chrome on my PC.Sounds works well on Internet Explorer with Active-X.

CONS
1. Setting the camera up for internet access outside of your home can either be very easy or can be scary for technophobes.Your router must support something called UPnP, Universal Plug and Play for this to work smoothly (I imagine). When I say smoothly, I mean, being able to follow the step-by-step instruction on sheet #2.If you do NOT have a router that supports UPnP then the step-by-step instructions basically tell you to go to the manual on the CD which gives a great introduction on private IP addresses, WAN addresses, static IP addresses, and the usefulness of something called a "dynamic DNS server".

If you are now thinking that you will be over your head by all of this jargon, realize that most routers support UPnP and thus you can follow the step-by-step instructions which use an "automatic" mode in the configuration steps using your web browser.I am using an Apple Airport Base Extreme which does NOT support UPnP.My experience was that it required about 10 extra minutes for me to figure out that I needed to set up something like "port mapping" for my Apple router.

2. Although this is a "wireless" network camera, the description is slightly deceptive. It is wireless only in the networking sense.I should have thought about this more carefully, because what I really expected was a "cordless" camera. This camera has a powercord attached to it, although is "wireless".

3. It seems that there are 2 versions of video recording software that is an optional install. Oddly, the one for single camera support versus multiple (16) camera support are compatible with different Windows versions.

4. I have installed the optional software to my Windows Vista PC to support up to 16 cameras and found that the software works well and is intuitive to use for motion-detection recording. The software appears to be fine for my uses, but you have to pay for a retail version of the software if you want expanded features such as the ability to export their video data files to JPEG or MPEG format, or if you want to use their video backup feature.(I have separate third party software that mirrors my internal hard drives to external drives, so the lack of a built-in video backup feature is not critical to me.)I have not yet tried to see if this optional recording software will work with Bootcamp or VMWare on my Apple Macbook Pro.

TIPS
For those of you who also use an Apple Airport Base Extreme (which does not support UPnP), here's what I had to do:

A. Launch "Airport Utility" software from my Mac then select "Manual Setup"
B. Select "Advanced" from the top tab
C. Select "Port Mapping" from a sub-tab
D. Click on the "+" to add a device to this mapping so that an outside computer can access my device and is thus "mapped"
E. In the drop-down menu select "Personal Web Sharing"
F. Make sure the "public" and "private TCP" ports have the same number such as "80" in the text fields (which they do by default if you selected "Personal Web Sharing"
G. Save and update the modem (requires restart)
H. Go to the installation CD for the Camera and using Internet Explorer to configure the camera, choose "Setup" from the top in the web page
I. Select "Static" and NOT "Automatic Setup" and type in a number such as "80" into the "Port No." field, and save
J. Go to the "Internet" tab of the web page
K. Select "Disable" from the "Auto Port Forwarding (IPv4) option. This is DIFFERENT from the step-by-step instructions given which only work for those who have UPnP.
L. Select "Register with ...........com"
M. Select "Save"
N. You will then be directed to the "..............com" website which is Panasonic's "Dynamic DNS server" which basically will allow your router if it does not support UPnP to work. This website is also how you will be able to view your camera using a web browser outside of your home and local network.CONCLUSION
I am impressed enough to have ordered two additional "wireless" cameras. Its ease of use with the iPhone's standard web browser is simply awesome. My colleagues at work were so impressed by it that they have also placed orders for the device within hours of them seeing for themselves the streaming video on my iPhone and on my desktop at work.

I also suspect that my nanny will not feel like I'm some crazy overly zealous parent either, but that I just want a logical way to check up on the kids.It is a non-intimidating appearing piece of houseware that just seems fun and entertaining while being a legitimate surveillance camera.

I hope this review was of some help!

Dropcam Wireless IP Home Security Camera with Online Recording Review

Dropcam Wireless IP Home Security Camera with Online Recording
Average Reviews:

We wanted to have a way to monitor our home when we were away on vacation. Most of the people we talked to suggested the Panasonic cameras, but after reading many of the reviews and comparing the features of the Dropcam with the Panasonic offerings, we decided the Dropcam was worth trying. We have been pretty happy with our Dropcam, with the exception of 2 things, the first one minor and dealing with the setup and the second a little more fundamental. The only hiccup on the setup was that our router was configured for WEP and Dropcam only works with WPA/WPA2.After we configured the router to use WPA, setup took just a few minutes. We went with the 7 day record function for $8.95/month (if you want just live viewing only, that's free) and set up an email account to receive notification of motion detected. The ability to save recorded data to a remote server (ie, not on a DVR in your house which can be stolen) and the ease of setup is really the two reasons we tried this camera over any other. But the second issue we have observed so far is that motion detection is very poor when room is lit with artificial light (ie, your regular incandescent light bulbs in your lamps in your room).Motion detection works great in a room during the daylight hours, but we were surprised that as soon as the sun started to set, our email notifications of motion detection (we were testing it so we were home at the time) stopped coming and the recorded video feed showed no motion detected even though there was obviously someone walking through the room (video quality when room was lit with artificial light was not too bad as far as we were concerned).Even with all the lights turned on in the room during the evening and overnight hours (say, around 300W worth of incandescent light for example), still nothing.I stood in the middle of the room one evening with all the lights on jumping up and down and waving my arms but the motion detector didn't notice a thing (although the video showed me embarrassing myself quite clearly).Since we were hoping to be alerted to a breakin and these would most likely happen in the middle of the night, this seems to be a rather big shortcoming.Which is too bad for an otherwise terrific product.

Sharx Security VIPcella SCNC2606 Wifi Wireless 802.11g Security Network Camera Review

Sharx Security VIPcella SCNC2606 Wifi Wireless 802.11g Security Network Camera
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this camera mainly to use with my Smart Phone. It was easy to setup and can now view live video on my phone or any of my PC's.

I use this camera mainly to view wildlife behind my house. I have motion detector flood lights that light up the area at night, so I normally don't need the Moonlight Mode, although it does work great in low light.

The attached video was taken at night without using the Moonlight Mode. I'll attach another video showing what a video looks like with Moonlight Mode turned on.

This is an amazing camera and has a very sharp picture. I do wish it had an external mic jack like my SCNC2601. The audio is much louder and more sensitive when using an external mic. An external mic jack is on my wish list for the next smart phone supported model. :-)

Comparing this camera to my SCNC2601, I would say the SCNC2606 has a sharper picture but I do like the SCNC2601 for it's Pan and Tilt capabilities and its external mic and speaker jacks. Both are great cameras and work great locally or over the internet.

Product Description:
This Wifi b/g wireless IP camera has its own built in web server. You can view the video from your own home network or you can configure your router to view and control the camera from computers or cellphones on the internet, without dependence on any third party web sites or subscriptions. With the built-in microphone you can listen in. Excellent MPEG4 or MJPEG video quality at a full 640 x 480 resolution with up to 30 frames per second for fluid, natural motion color. For viewing or recording a single camera no software is required besides just your browser. For viewing or recording multiple Sharx IP cameras the included MultiView software for PCs supports up to 4 Sharx IP cameras simultaneously. Truly amazing to see the streaming video on your web enabled cell phone. For frequent use we recommend to upgrade your cellphone service to unlimited data, which costs just $15/mo extra on the ATT network. You can see motion even on non-3G phones like SonyEricsson w580i. If your phone does not support video you can see automatically refreshing JPEG images. At home, you can use this camera with your laptop or iPhone as a baby or pet monitor, and the very high light sensitivity in "moonlight mode" allows you to view out from a window to see what's happening in the street as long as there is some background light available. For night vision in absolute, total darkness with no visible light, upgrade to SCNC2607 which adds infrared night vision and a higher quality, wide angle lens. Wireless operation supports WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption. On routers with UPnP feature the camera can set itself up automatically, and on routers without UPnP (such as Apple's Airport series) the camera can be set up with our step by step instructions.

The second shipment came and the system on worked on 1 camera and it had to be inside my building and less then 15ft to pick up somewhat of a picture. Outside you will get a lot of static. If you get it from Cable express you have to pay for the shipping back to get a refund. I was very disappointed and will never Purchase like this again. Will cost me over 50.00 when all said in done. for what i was trying to save i could of purchased from Best buy and returned it without paying shipping.

Logitech WiLife Digital Video Security--Indoor Master System Camera Review

Logitech WiLife Digital Video Security--Indoor Master System Camera
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had the Wilife camera system for two months, and I've found it meets my needs to provide a view of what's happening at certain places around the house (inside or out).I found the system delivers the goods by providing the homeowner a fairly clear image, stores the image in an easily managed retrieval program, and you can view "what is happening" when you are away from home over the Internet via your laptop or a smart phone. Also, you can individually set the cameras up to have the system E-mail or text you if there is motion detected or the system goes "off-line."

The skinny review:

Pluses:for the most part easy set-up, trouble shooting is extensively detailed (Logitech obviously wants you to be able to solve connection problems), Internet accessibility actions are recorded (and easily accessed), adaptability, the quality of the images can be varied, images can be saved, and movies can be saved of what is picked-up by the camera(s) in a WMA file.

Negatives: starts to get pricey by the time you get your 4th camera, some places in the house not easily receptive to signals and not all cameras are suited to all areas (I write about this below).

Full Review:

This "Starter" system with the indoor camera is a great way to see what the system can do for you.I say this because, for me, the indoor camera was a little harder to set-up, but it also was flexible enough that I was able to easily change its location and could tell where I wanted to place my other cameras before purchasing them. In setting these locations, I sometimes used a laptop connected to the Internet to give me instant feedback on my placement of cameras and what the image would look like.

Regarding problems, most had to do with receiving the signal from various points in my house, and my house, approaching 40 years old, has its share of additions that I am thinking a newer home with continuous wiring won't have this problem. But, I am getting ahead of myself.

I do not know why a "surveillance" system has always intrigued me, but over the years I have tried several different wireless products (X-10's system, another wireless system with the cameras used with USB 2.0 water-proof Wireless Web Ready DVR Security System w/ 4 Pack Highigh Resolution Indoor/Outdoor Night Vision Surveillance Cameras with only "poor" to "fair" results.WiLife's system provided me with an affordable "starter" system, a good image, and it kept track of the activity that the cameras recorded.

Here are my observations regarding the system with all of the various components and their installation:

First of all, it is easy to hook-up.With the starter kit for the inside, I installed the software on a media computer I had integrated into my audio/visual system,plugged-in the receiver to an outlet that wasn't "protected" by a surge protector and placed the camera in another part of the house, plugging that camera's LAN-like connector into another outlet. The first time I hooked it up, it searched for the camera(s) after I told it I had "one."As I added cameras, I merely clicked on the "add additional cameras" button, changed the number of cameras, and it found them. With regards to firewall issues, I use OneCare Windows Live OneCare 2.0 (Up to 3 Users) for my computer's security, and it handled this for me by asking if I wanted to allow WiLife.I did and that issue was solved.

With regards to set-up issues and the inside camera, I live in a rather sprawling house that has multiple floors and an addition (which is why my "radio signal" X-10 and other cameras had problems).I took thecamera and placed it in different areas to see how it worked. In all but two places, it worked well and was easily picked-up by the WiLife program. With the camera at one location, after several times of not being able to discover it, the program actually had me assign an address, like an IP address, for the camera. After doing that, it worked fine, but I ended-up using an outside camera at that location, which picked-up the signal right away.NOTE:while I did not use the manual to work-out my problems, the manual is very detailed and a very good manual, especially in working through connection and firewall problems (if you have them). The manual is available on the CD and from their websight [...], and if you have any doubts about whether to get the system, you should download the manual and glance through it.In hindsight, I should have consulted it in addition to the instructions given by the program's help section in dealing with my minor problems.

As for the various set-ups, on one camera I use the infrared light, and it is very inobtrusive. On the other cameras, I have an inside camera that is affixed to a window by the suction cup with the wide angle lens and another inside camera that is just in a room. This inside camera with the suction cup has stayed attached since I attached it six-weeks ago.One note about the infrared camera, it should not be used around a pool or spa for it sometimes "shows," depending on the color of the swimsuit, the swimmer's figure under the swimsuit.

Which camera work best? The outdoor camera works best. I have a good picture from dawn to dusk (and even in twilight), and I have not had any problems with them sending the picture to the WiLife Computer Center.I have one of them pointed at my front door and one in the backyard that can view my hot tub or the backyard (more on that in a minute).I wish there was a way I could post a video, but if you look-up my name on youtube, I have posted one that shows the neighborhood children coming to the front door and getting candy from my wife. In that video, you'd see the picture of the entrance with just the light coming through the fixed-lights in the door, then, the fluorescent floodlights come-on (those usually take a few seconds to "warm" up), and finally the lights on the side of the doors come on.During the day, the picture is very good (I have posted a picture of the front door during the day).

With the backyard outdoor camera, I attached-it to something my X-10 camera used that could rotate the camera to fixed points that one established. It was called a "ninja" unit, and I have found it to be helpful in allowing my backyard camera to view several spots in rotation, or however I want to do it.

The clock, or "spy," camera is another camera that is easy to use.I hooked it up, and it was worked fine from the get-go.It picks-up an image in slightly lower light better than the inside camera. If there is one thing I wish the system had, it's that the clock camera had a battery back-up.While the electricity doesn't go off but once or twice a year where I live, it is still something I wish it had.On the plus side, the clock is one of the easiest I have found to reset.

The system has done what I wanted it to do:I had some concerns that some of the neighbor children were trying to get into the spa, and the cameras showed me this wasn't true (my small dog was actually slipping-in through a 4-in opening); It shows me who is at, and who has come to, the front and other doors; and it has shown me what, if anything, my daughter does in my audio/visual room when I am not at home.

If I had young children, I would probably have one of the cameras in their room and in their playroom, and pointed outside to the yards where they play. With my dog, I have been able to find-out if he is damaging anything while being left alone (sometimes he is guilty).Because the cameras turn-on and record activity, and show the recording on a time-line, one can easily go back and view what has happen during those recordings.

This is not a security system, but I have found it supplements the centralized alarm system on my house quite well.Which brings-up an instance, and a feature I have not mentioned, the ability to view what is happening over your computer or your smart phone. We were out of town for the day, and I received a call about the alarm going off.The police were on their way to the house and the alarm dispatcher was checking to see if we had done anything to trigger the alarm.I told them no, and to let me know if they found anything.I immediately logged-in on the WiLife web site with my smart phone and clicked on the outside cameras.Because this was at night, I first saw the policeperson's flashlight at one of the entrances to the backyard (the alarm came from the back door being opened). Then, the outside security lights came on, and finally the police checking the doors. With the WiLife system, you can actually have notices sent to you if there is activity from any of the cameras by text and even an image of what triggered the camera if you want that information. Some of these features require a subscription fee, andthis might be something you would want to consider.I have the subscription and like it.Regarding this instance, it turned-out that I forgot to close one door all the way and dog pushed it open.

Overall, I have found the WiLife System has met my needs.I did get the extended warranties on equipment through NEW as offered on Amazon, and have been pleased with their service. The two times I have had a warranty issue with other equipment (a computer and a printer), NEW has taken care of the matter quickly or has had very good technical support to help me resolve the problemEven though I am not anticipating any problems with the WiLife System, sometimes it doesn't hurt to have the extra protection.I especially thought an extended warranty would be good since one cannot hook-it-up through an UPS or surge protector.I have uploaded several pictures to give you an idea of how the images sent by the cameras look.

Astak CM-812C2 2.4 GHz Security and Surveillance Camera Set Review

Astak CM-812C2 2.4 GHz Security and Surveillance Camera Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a decent camera. It is well made on the camera end, but the antenna on the receiver feels a little cheap. The rest of the receiver feels of average quality (not cheap but not high end either). I have the cameras placed, one about 20 feet away and one about 70 feet away. both signals go through walls. both come in pretty clear.

Some things to watch. This is a 2.4GHz frequency so if you have anything that is 2.4GHz frequency, it can interfere with the signal. This goes for wireless phones and wireless networks for the PC. IF you have corded or things in the 5 GHz range, then you should be fine. Also, the video is good to distinguish what is going on and make things out, but do not expect a complete crisp picture. I can still make out the stress crack in the sidewalk about 50 feet away, but to try and read a license plate from the same distance is not possible. You could make out the type, color, and style of the car, just not the license plate. Also, most colors do show up fine, except the green. Grass comes up as a yellowish green with some grey mixed in. I have seen the same thing on other cameras, but worse.

The way that this picks up video at night is with red LED lights around the inside lens. They do not turn on until it gets dark enough, but if you are trying to hide the camera, they can stand out. They are not real bright so they do not draw a lot of attention and can only mainly see them if you look straight on, but are still there so are not completely hidden. (This would explain the other persons review about not working inside a vehicle) I would say that you can make peoples faces out at up to about 15 (maybe 20) feet and can make movement out up to about 30 feet at night. But if there are other lights on that will light up an area, then it will be expanded.

The camera comes with an adapter so you can use an AC plug and a 9 volt battery plug adapter so you have your choice what to use to run the camera. They come with a super heavy duty 9 volt battery. I ran that battery for about 2 hours before it died. So if a super heavy duty battery will last that long, then if you got an alkaline battery, then I am guessing that you could probably get about 6 hours out of one battery. But can not say for sure because i have mine plugged in to the AC outlet so no need to try it. It also comes with the RCA cable (but it think that is only about 3 feet long so if you need longer ones, be prepared to buy some) and a remote.

The receiver has the ability to scan different cameras. You have have it set to just view one camera, or you can have it set to flip from camera 1 then 4 then back again about every 2 seconds. If you buy additional cameras, then you can choose which ones you want it so scan in sequence. meaning that if you have camera 1, 2, 3 and 4, then you can have it set so it will scan 1, then 4, then 2 if you want and never do camera 3. It is nice that they give you the option.

Overall, I am happy with the purchase. It is made good and definitely does the job. For the price, especially taking into consideration that it has 2 camera, a receiver, is expandable and is wireless, this is definitely a good price.

Logitech Alert 750i Indoor Master - HD-quality Security System(961-000329) Review

Logitech Alert 750i Indoor Master - HD-quality Security System(961-000329)
Average Reviews:

I've been trying to set up a remote monitoring system for a while now, and have experimented with a few different solutions including webcams and other stand-alone cameras. The same problems problems occur over and over:

- When the router gets rebooted, invariably you can't connect to the camera without going back and fixing some part of the configuration.
- Remote viewing through dynamic IP addresses is flaky, and many DDNS solutions don't work very well. And do you really want a static IP address just for this?
- You need a computer switched on near the camera, or a web-server that the camera can stream to. That's somewhat awkward.
- The image quality is so-so, and tends to be good enough to see a person entering a room, but hard to identify who it is.

I'm pleased to say that the Logitech Alert system beats any of the others I've tried hands-down, and it's clearly designed with absolute simplicity in mind, together with the need to connect with the camera system remotely without a degree in network engineering.

Everything is provided in the box, including various mounts, network cables and software. It took more time to individually unwrap each component than connect it together - the whole system was live in under 5 minutes. The software updates itself in seconds, and even setting up user accounts on their website took no time at all. In terms of positioning the camera, it's possible to place it on a stand, screwed to a wall, or attached to a window using the suction cup provided.

This package does several things (very) well:

- The software is extremely simple to use, yet offers some bells and whistles such as motion alerts by email, live recording and playback, and basic controls such as zoom. It's also written in English, and you'd be surprised how many other systems are not.
- It handles Internet disconnection gracefully with an on-board SD card, and doesn't need any user action to help it 'remember' any IP settings.
- Talking of IP settings, these are all under the hood so you can be blissfully unaware of how it works - which is such a major benefit that I'd buy this package for this alone.
- Viewing remotely through a desktop browser in another location is as simple as visiting the website and logging in.
- Viewing from a smartphone is even better. I used their free Android app, and the speed and quality surpassed my expectations.
- The audio broadcast is very clear.
- Adding additional cameras is straightforward, although you have to make sure your Internet bandwidth is capable of supporting the number of cameras you need.
- You can switch off the LED lights that might give away the location of the unit - what a nice touch.

But this package is NOT:

- A completely wireless solution: the camera connects to an outlet unit and communicates to your router with another outlet unit. Although wiring is really minimal, there is always the one cable needed on the camera side.
- A replacement for a multi-camera professional system - though it comes close, and for a fraction of the price might suffice for some commercial users.
- A way to spy on your neighbor's license plates across the road - why would you anyway?

Still, even with those caveats it's a remarkably good solution if you want to view a location remotely with a minimum of hassle.

These cameras work very well as security devices and are reliable and easy to set up. I have two in place. I ordered this as an additional camera and the design has been changed. There is now a fan on the power unit of the camera which makes a noticible noise. This may not be a problem if the camera is placed out of the way somewhere but would be heard if it is in a public/ open area.

Panasonic BL-C210A Internet Security Camera Review

Panasonic BL-C210A Internet Security Camera
Average Reviews:

I would change the rating to 2 and would not recommend purchasing if you need LOW Light like a nursery.I absolutely do not recommend this or the 230a for a nursery!

Review updated on 2-27-2010.I will start by saying this was a very difficult to set-up camera on a Mac using Snow Leopard with VM Fusion and Parallels.I was not able to get it to work on VM Fusion and Windows 7 and eventually switched to Parallels with Windows XP I finally got it to work.I also have Trendnet TV-IP422Wwhich was simple to configure.

Pro's
1. Comparing the picture in bright light using Parallels, IE and H.264 the picture is AMAZING.I will use the word 'Shocking' to describe how clear the picture is.Compared to Trendnet it is laughable how clearer the Panasonic picture is.
2. Web interface is great and is not limited for Mac users like Trendnet
3. The P/T is Very quick and much quieter compared to Trendnet
4. Unit size is very nice and the POE is well thought out.

Con
1.Night 'vision' is completely worthless. In the nursery with only a nightlight the TV-IP422Wswitches to a b&w view and we can see basic outlines, blanket vs child is a bit of a challenge. However, turn on the night vision IR's and you can.No switch to the panasonic setting next to the Trendnet, NOTHING.When I say nothing I mean, you can't see anything just a black room.No joke!
2. The range of the P/T is very limited and I haven't figured out how to zoom.
3. It appears H.264 compression improvements only work on IE and Windows. You do not see a benefit with H.264 on FireFox or Mac browsers.
4. I found it very difficult to setup on a Mac and feel free to leave comments if you are having trouble and I will see if I can help walk you through what I did

I received a 4 pack of Synology surveillance License and it works great. You can P/T and detection appears to work.I'm using the latest beta firmware on a Synology DS 409.

Final
Bright and I mean bright light the picture is amazing. Dusk the picture is not as good as the Trendnet and in very low light there is NO picture! If you have the need for Low Light pass on this camera!I also bought a 230a wireless and I used the same approach and was easy to set up and will put details in comment response.I'm returning the 230a as it doesn't work in low light of a nursery.
