TV-B-Gone Universal TV Power Remote Control Keychain Review

TV-B-Gone Universal TV Power Remote Control Keychain
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This item is GREAT! When you put it on your keyring, it looks like it is nothing more than the remote for a car alarm.

If anyone asks you what it is, you tell them exactly that. If you have your keys in your hand as you walk through a store, it is not unusual, but just carrying this device by itself might cause suspicion. PUT IT ON YOUR KEYRING! Keep your keys in your hand, try not to be too obvious or point your keys at the TV sets! Keep your arms down at your sides, it has a fairly good range.

Going into stores that have large displays of television sets, it is fun to hit the button and watch the sets go off. Some go off quickly, others take a while as the unit gets to that specific brand. Some sets can take quite a while to turn off.

Sony must be the very first code in this unit, as Sony sets go off imediately. Panasonic sets take 5 - 10 seconds.

At best buy, when brat kids are playing the video games, this unit will turn off the sets so they can't play anymore.

The one thing people forget, is that the same signal that turns TV's off, is the same exact signal that also turns TVs ON!!So if a TV set is off, then using this device will turn it ON.

So another great use is when you are at a restaurant and they don't have the TV set on, you can turn the set on, you just can't change channels and volume, you are stuck with what it was last set at.

GE makes a universal remote in which you keep pressing a button called "CODE SEARCH" until your TV set goes on, then hit ENTER, and all the features of the remote then work with that TV set.However, bringing a regular sized universal remote everywhere you go is not much fun, so this "car alarm remote" disguised universal ON/OFF TV remote is a nice thing to have on your keyring.

NOTE:If you are using this in department stores with security cameras, remember that video cameras can SEE the infrared light that these remotes use, that your naked eye can not.

(Point your TV remote at your own camcoder or digital camera, and you will SEE it light up like a flashlight through the video screen.By the way, this is a great way to test to make sure if a TV remote is working or broken.If you see the flashes of light with your camera, then the remote is fine, your TV has the problem, or something is blocking or standing in front of the sensor on your TV)

So if you have this aimed in the direction of a security camera in the store, it could be detected by store security. Then again, you are not doing anything illegal, the worst they can do is ask you to leave the store if you are caught having fun with this device.

UPDATE -Battery Replacement
-----------------------------

After using this device for several months, I noticed that it would not turn off all sets anymore.Mystery solved, the batteries were just getting low.

THIS PART IS IMPORTANT....When you unscrew and open the device, you see ONE 3V battery.People might replace this battery, find that the unit still does not work and think the unit is defective. There are TWO MORE 3V batteries on the OTHER SIDE OF THE PC BOARD! Those power the LED and need to be replaced too.

The first side with just the ONE 3 volt battery was a thin 2016 battery and I happened to have a 2032 which is double the thickness and fit perfectly in the battery slot. Turns out the website for this device even says to PUT a 2032 in the unit, even though it came from the factory with the 2016 in it.

Both are 3 volt batteries, but the thicker one will last longer, just as a AA battery will have more power than a AAA battery, even though both are 1.5 volts.

On the other side, you can't use the 2032's since you need to fit TWO 3 volt batteries in the slot (to get 6 volts) and two 2016's will fit, but only one 2032 would fit in the same space.

So, you will need to get (1) 2032 battery and (2) 2016 batteries when it comes time to replace them. They are available at Radio Shack and I even found them at the grocery store with the other batteries, so they are not hard to find.

With new fresh batteries, the unit is again working as before.

While the batteries were weak, it would have enough power to turn off the first sets in the string of codes, but then the LED would go dim and not turn off any other sets. So if after months of use, you find it turns off some sets and not as many others as it used to, time to replace the batteries.

I use this thing a lot, so the batteries lasted as long as they can be expected to, considering the small size of the batteries.

I have been thinking of taking it apart and putting into a hat with bigger battery pack and 4 infrared LEDs around the hat so that it turns all sets off no matter what way I am facing.

Product Description:
You're sitting in a restaurant with your friends. The TV in the corner is blaring. You realize that none of you are actually talking to each other. Instead, you're all staring at a piece of furniture!
Now there's a solution: the TV-B-Gone. This small keychain wonder is designed to turn off virtually any television. Invented by Mitch Altman, a former Silicon Valley entrepreneur, the TV-B-Gone is a simple remote control device with a single button. When activated, the unit emits 209 different turn-off codes for nearly every TV. The unit takes a little more than a minute to cycle through all of the turn-off codes, but fortunately, codes for the most common TVs are emitted first. And because it's small, unassuming, and attaches to your key ring, you can always be discreet about offing that off-putting talking head.
Just think, more authentic and meaningful social interactions can be yours in seconds. Be prepared when the TV goes off, though; you may have to talk to those friends of yours at the table. Of course, if it's just simple silence you're after, the TV-B-Gone delivers that, too. So pick up that book and enjoy!

Within the first year of my Sirius subscription I am having problems with my 3rd Sportster 3.

1st radio - power supply cord for car malfunctionedafter 3 weeks
2nd radio - Antenna began malfunctioning after 1st month
3rd radio - This one was ok for first 6 months however none of the buttons on the unit itself work now except for the knob which can only be turned.Without the remote the radio is useless.

I am happy with the subscription however I would definately buy any other brand of radio.Sirius dock and play radios are terrible.

Eye-Fi 4GB Share Video SDHC Wireless Flash Memory Card EYE-FI-4SV Review

Eye-Fi 4GB Share Video SDHC Wireless Flash Memory Card EYE-FI-4SV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I can't say enough about how great the eye-fi technology is... the setup was an absolute nightmare for me though.

CAUTION: For anyone thinking about purchasing this card, you need to make sure that your camera will be compatible and the eye-fi card will transfer the types of files you want transferred. This particular card is a SDHC, meaning your camera needs to be able to handle SDHC cards (not just SD cards!). Also, read in the forums on the eye-fi site to find out if anyone has found problems with your particular camera blocking signals from the card. I have read that some camera cases interfere with the wireless signals from the card. This card will transfer jpeg picture files, but no other image files. There is a new pro card out that will transfer RAW files if you want to transfer those. Video formats the 4GB Share Video card will handle include: MPEG, AVI, MOV, FLV, MP4, and WMV.The card comes with a small USB device that allows you to plug the card into your compuer. After plugging it in, an eye-fi manager will be launched via your web browser. You must create an account with eye-fi (just requires an email signup - no fees). After the account is set-up, the card will detect wireless connections and allow you to select which connection to use. I had a horrible time getting the card to connect to my wireless connection (never had any problems with other devices, and I have quite a bit of experience setting up wireless networks/devices). The problem is that they give you way too few options to fix problems that might arise. The one and only solution the eye-fi gave me when it wouldn't connect was to add the card's MAC address to my wireless router's list of incoming connections, which didn't help at all. Eventually, I needed to completely redo my entire wireless network to get the card to connect, which was a pain. The problem in all of this wasn't the fact that the card should have connected easier, but that the setup was too simplistic and too linear. If anything went wrong in the setup process, you had to start over from the beginning... there was no way to resume from the part that gave you an error. Essentially, you have to go through the entire process of signing up for an account, connecting to your wireless network, taking a picture, and sending the picture before the setup is complete. Any problems? Back to the beginning... and I had plenty of problems through the process.

After the setup process is complete, the card works great though. Transfers start as soon as the camera is in range of the wireless connection, is on, and the computer is on (although there is another option in the settings to allow photos to be transferred to an eye-fi server and then to your computer so that both do not have to be on at the same time). Photos and video can be uploaded to any directory you choose on your computer and can be labeled by the date created or uploaded. They can also be uploaded directly to a wide variety of sites including Flickr, photobucket, facebook, walmart, costco, and many more (almost any photo site you can think of). You can have photos videos go to separate/multiple places, and advanced options allow you to set private or public viewing capabilities on each site you upload to. Your photos/video are automatically uploaded as soon as the camera is in range of the network, but another feature allows you to only upload pictures/videos that you set to "protect" mode in your camera (that way not everything gets uploaded all the time).

This particular card comes only with support for your home network, but you can purchase an upgrade to allow you to access any wifi hotspot to upload your pictures for $15 a year. An upgrade to allow geotagging of your photos like on the "explore" card is also available for $15 a year.

The transfers are very fast, and the pictures stay on your card in case something goes wrong in the transfer process. You can then delete them from your card when you want. You can set up email, SMS, or Twitter alerts to tell you when the transfer is started, completed, or if anything goes wrong.

Overall, it's a fantastic device. I couldn't imagine going back to all the USB transfers I used to do. Just be prepared for a great deal of frustration in the setup process unless you are one of the lucky ones and everything goes perfect from the start.

Cisco-Linksys WRT400N Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router Review

Cisco-Linksys  WRT400N Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Like many of you, I find it very difficult to get clear information on networking products on-line.Unlike other electronic devices, it seems that there are a ton of bozos out there all weighing in on how horrid their router is, when either they don't know what they're doing or they have physicial challenges that aren't the hardware's fault.

Suffice it to say that I did a ton of research before buying this product.As it turned out, Amazon has the best price (inclusive of shipping, of course) - but I checked out the reviews on CNET, NewEgg, and anywhere else I could find information.

The best resouce I found was here - at SmallNetBuilder.com.
[...]

This guy really puts the devices through their paces and seems to be relatively unbiased in his approach.I tip my hat to him.

This product is fast and relatively easy to set up.Most importantly it has TWO radios.What this means to you is that you will see TWO different versions of the router when it is on-line.If you'd like you can dedicate one of the channels for N and one for B/G.This is all laid out very clearly on the Linksys product website, should you wish to check that out.

You'll see many products that say "Dual Band" (it can operate in both frequencies) but be careful because unless the product says "Simultaneous transmission" it will not do so at the same time.So if you have, like we do in my house, N users and G users, and you want different security or other settings on the various channels Simultaneous Transmission is the way to go.There may be other reasons to go this route including Media streaming or gaming on the 5 ghz band - this is particularly true if you simply want to eliminate wires and aren't trying to stream your N/5 GHz signal very far.

If you have realistic expectations of what this product will do - and especially if you don't need a Gigabit ethernet connection on your network (I have a Gigabit switch for my wired boxes, which means that transfers to those machines get 'slowed down' to 100 GHz when they are interfacing with the wireless world, but from a practical perspective I haven't noticed any slowing!) this is, by far, the wireless router to get.

I'm not going to argue with the folks who say that they don't see a speed improvement, but I can tell you that we see speed improvements on both the N spectrum and the G spectrum relative to our old Belkin pre-N router.

Finally, the design looks funky in pictures and in the videos that I saw.In the home it's pretty swank looking and certainly less noticable relative to something with exterior antenae.So another tip of the cap to the designers.

Overall I'm very impressed with this device and pleased to give it 5 stars!

Q-See QSW25C 2.5-Inch TFT Baby Monitoring System w/Wireless Camera Review

Q-See QSW25C 2.5 inch TFT Baby Monitoring System w/Wireless Camera
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you are considering a video monitor for your kids rather than a simple-audio monitor, you should absolutely go video (whether you buy this model or something else).

Prior to buying this model, I owned a Mobi and would not recommend it. I did a fair amount of online research before buying this item and despite some flaws, I'm still a satisfied user.

Pro:
- It works. One room away, the picture is very very good. Gets worse farther away (no surprise)
- Great features & flexibility. Have always been able to find ways to hang or position the cameras so they can view the kids - not always impossible with other models
- Supports multiple cameras (great for covering several kids and/or multiple rooms)

Con:
- Audio has a lot of static, even when the picture is clear
- The power cord for the monitor plugs into the unit inside the battery compartment, so you can't leave batteries loaded. Dumb design
- One of the three channels (#2) knocks out the wifi in our house, so we can only use two cameras. Fortunately the unit operates on two other channels, so we can still use those cameras without interfering with the Wifi
- Cost of the base package plus extra cameras is too high

Good luck!

I purchased a CCTV system that used this particular model camera.It provided a pretty good quality picture in color, both day and night.But after a few months, three of the four is not working like it used to.One of them appears like the night vision is not operating properly and the other two has a ghostly-like light at nighttime only and distorts the picture.I had to purchase two more to replace the two critical cameras.Because of my lack of camera knowledge, I'm not sure if I'm stuck with this particular model or if I can upgrade to something better.I'll have to research this further.If you thinking about purchasing a security camera system, do your homework and ask questions.

Sigma 24-60mm f/2.8 EX DG IF Aspherical Wide Angle Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras Review

Sigma 24-60mm f/2.8 EX DG IF Aspherical Wide Angle Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
Average Reviews:

First I really wish people would post reviews for only Canon copies of this lens since the copies for Nikon and other bodies can not be properly compared.I purchased this lens to use as a walk around lens in place of a more expensive 24-70 L lens.No, this lens is not as well built and it is not as fast to focus as the L, but you should not expect it to either.The lens is a good value for the price you will pay, and it beats the heck out of worrying about someone stealing your L lens when you travel.I did require two copies in order to receive a "good" copy of this lens, the first copy shipped to my door had a nasty front focus issue.The company I purchased the lens from did however take the lens back and replace it with another copy that worked very well with no real issues to speak of.The pictures I obtain with this lens are very nice, and for trips and general photography will make most users very happy.If your looking for a lens to use for special events such as weddings however, this is not the lens to use.The focus is very slow compared to an L lens and sometimes has a habit of hunting a little bit.Overall though, a nice value based lens and with a 2.8 aperture hard to beat for what you pay.

HP EX487 MediaSmart Home Server Review

HP EX487 MediaSmart Home Server
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
UPDATED at Bottom on 05/05/2009

Hi All,

I have been using different types of NAS solutions, including a Drobo, for a while now and wanted to give the Windows Home Server solution a shot for my home.I am an IT person by trait.I know that it is fairly easy to build a small home server but I had heard so much about the HP interface that I wanted to give this a shot.Unfortunately I did not buy from AMAZON and had to use a third party to get the item....but that's neither here or there.My review is about the product itself.

The box includes the server, the rescue cd, the restore cd, and a cd for both mac/pc workstations.Remove the item from the box, plug in the power and a ethernet cord to your router/switch and you are ready to roll.The first setup of the client software MUST be done on a PC so that you can set the server up.Very easy and very well made software that will guide you through the entire process.

(A Side Note - HP Recommends that you use a router that has UPNP on it so that the remote capabilities of this server can be used without issues.A list of some routers is below. I was unfortunately using Apple Airport Extreme Base Stations but had a handy dandy D-Link DIR-655 at home...which I switched to immediately and permanently so I can use this server.Product Link for DIR-655: D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router

Once the setup process is concluded (5-10 minutes) you are able to start using the server at once and create user accounts, media syncing, iTunes servers, etc.Very Very simplistic approach.One of the reasons I give it a 5/5.One feature that I want to mention, which puts this device over the others, is that it has a built in plug-in that allows me to use an Amazon s3 account to backup the entire server...normally you would have to use a 3rd party software (jungle disk, which i own) to do this but having it built into the server and having the server manage the backup to the cloud is amazing.

MAC Specific: I wanted to see how this server would work on a MAC and what the ramifications would be of using time machine over the network without having to buy Apple's time capsule.Again, very easy.I installed the software on my macbook pro.It has a section where you define the amount of space you want to use on the server for your time machine backup...10-20-30-40-etc gb....Set the space, it creates the area on the server, hit the start button, go to time machine preferences and use this new hard drive which shows up in the list as HP Mediasmart Server and VOILA....you are time machining away at gigabit speeds.Did I mention the ethernet on this is Gigabit.

Dynamic DNS:We all have some sort of broadband if we consider devices like this and most of us do not opt to pay the exorbitant costs for static ip addresses....instead we just use DHCP from Cable or DSL.Those addresses change..maybe not often..but they do change.One of the features of WHS is to allow you remote access from where ever you may be...and or for a family member to get in and take a look at some files you have stored for them...pictures, music, etc...The server has a built in feature to allow you to use two or three services....TZO (if I remember correctly is one that is included free for one year--allows custom domain names), Microsoft offers a free domain if you have a FREE Microsoft Live ID.I opted for the free service as it allows me to use a simple name like tarun . homeserver . com.You simply pick a name for your server (tarun) and it goes and checks if it is available...if it is you are all set.This is when a UPNP router comes into play so that media smart can set the router up to allow incoming connections to the proper ports for the server....VOILA...works like a charm.I can get to the server from work and upload files, download, etc....very very nice and very easy.

I can get in to much broader detail about the setup but then that would defeat the purpose of this review.I think I have already typed to my hearts content.I really love this device...it is worth its price.I am sure we can all build it cheaper and smaller...but hey...for me I don't want to tinker with hardware since it is time consuming and I would much rather hang out with the kids.

This is a great device which, backed by HP, will only get better with time.

5/5

ps.If you have any questions...please feel free to comment and I will answer them as best as I can.

Quick Note 02-28-2009:If you are a PC user then the WHS agent will pull all of your music and pictures to the server and make them available...this includes iTunes music and playlists.If you are a MAC user...u are out of luck for automation...but you can copy your entire iTunes music folder over to the WHS Manually.WHS will make the iTunes library and playlists available to all network users.I moved my iTunes from my mac to the WHS and then simply told iTunes the new location...so if I add new music, podcasts, etc...I dont have to sync directories...iTunes will just add them to the WHS Music Folder...which is mounted on the mac as a volume.Hope that helps a bit.

ps..Firefly is what WHS/HP use for iTunes....something which I believe can be installed on a drobo with droboshare.

UPDATE 03-06-09 - If you are a opendns user then there may be some issues in regard to pinging and browsing to your whs using the connector on pc's.There is a simple fix...add an exception at [...] for your server.Example: server.local where server is your server name and .local is your home.I did it today and my pc was able to find the server without issue.Some routers may not experience this problem...but I had it with both the apple airport extreme and the d-link.A simple fix....

UPDATE 03-10-09 - Compatible Routers:
The Good:
* D-Link DGL-4100 GamerLounge Broadband Gigabit
* D-Link DGL-4300 GamerLounge Broadband Gigabit
* D-Link DIR-655 Wireless Xtreme N Gigabit
* D-Link EBR-2310 Ethernet Broadband
* D-Link WBR-1310 Wireless-G
* Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Broadband
* Linksys WRT54G3G-ST Wireless G for Mobile Broadband
* Linksys WRT54GC Compact Wireless-G Broadband
* Netgear WPN824NA RangeMax Wireless Router
* Trendnet TEW-631BRP Wireless N Draft
The BAD:
* Linksys WRT330N Wireless-N Gigabit Gaming
* Microsoft MN-500 Broadband Networking Wireless Base
* Apple Airport Extreme Base Station
* Linksys WRT55AG Wireless 4 Port
* Qwest Actiontec m1000DSL
* US Robotics USR8001 DSL/Cable with Print Server

Quick Update 03/13/2009 - Friday the 13th:
1.The server is backing up to Amazon S3 perfectly almost every day and I have not had one issue yet.

2.A FUN Project to try is to download the ps3 media server which is freeware that can be installed on WHS to automatically stream your music, videos, pictures, etc on to your PS3...if you have one.I will post a link in the comments section.

3.Last but not least for today - If you want to remove that annoying reminder to install Mcafee.....you can check the ignore button but that item remains in the list forever....How to remove it?There is a share from the mediasmart called SOFTWARE which houses certain files.One of the files is a rather large file....larger then 50mb if I am not wrong....I wish I could remember the name.That is the McAfee add-in installer...once it is removed from the software share and the server is restarted..u will never see it mentioned again and dont have to worry about checking off ignore.

I know this review is getting LONG...but I want anyone that owns and or is considering buying one of these units to have as much information as possible.Its not easy to drop $600 these days and end up with something you may never use.I sincerely hope my review helps you make the right decision.

Quick NOTE: 03/24/09 - Microsoft has released powerpack two for WHS.I have also configured, manually, my new dual band Apple Airport Extreme to work with WHS.You simply need to forward 3 ports to your WHS box from within the Airport Utility Software.I believe somone has posted a link in the comments section also.....

Update 03/26/09 - This was pointed out to me in the comments section as I was unaware.You are able to completely image a Windows PC and recover it via a CD that is provided by HP.The initial backup takes a while depending on how much space you are using but once its done you feel better knowing your machine can be fully recovered if the hard drive dies, etc..

Update 05/05/09 - (happy cinco de Mayo) - I just wanted to chime in and let everyone know that a new version of the WHS software is available from HP.Make sure you update your units so that they have the latest and greatest.The new features allow for automatic video conversion for any videos you drop in designated folders.Also, HP has a iPhone and iPod touch software which connects to the server to allow for music streaming and photo viewing.AWESOME features that keep making this an AWESOME addition to anyone's home network.

Eye-Fi Home Wireless 2 GB Secure Digital Card (EYE-FI-2HM) Review

Eye-Fi Home Wireless 2 GB Secure Digital Card
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For starters, I researched the heck out of this thing before I bought it. The average ratings made me a little leery of trying it out, but the concept seemed interesting and great enough that I couldn't help it, so I bought one to use with my Canon SD1100 IS.

It's been great.

Pros:
Easy setup. No more wires for uploading pics. Works with practically any photo service (I post my pics to Facebook in near-realtime). Great fun, and it's surprising how much more likely I am to use the camera knowing that I really don't have to plug it in and upload the pics. I just turn it on when I get home, and a few minutes later, I edit the album details online.

Speed is fine. You're really only limited by your upload speed of your ISP. I have FIOS, so it's pretty darn fast.

Cons:

Mostly what other people have already noted. You can't upload video. This is not the huge problem you'd think it is. You basically wind up plugging in the camera when get home after you took video. Not exactly like you're losing anything, you had to do that before anyway.

The pictures are downloaded from the Eye-Fi service to a folder you specify, but within that folder they're created with the date in the following format: "October 22nd, 2008" which means folders don't sort right unless you sort by folder create date or modified date. That's kind of a pain.

To the user above who thinks Eye-Fi only wants you to create an account to violate your privacy: don't be paranoid. Their privacy policy looks pretty reasonable to me. I'd strongly suggest you read it for yourself before signing up, just so you know.[...]

All in all, I'm happy with it, and more pleased than reading some of the overly-cautious reviews would have led me to believe I'd be. It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn good.

Iomega Prestige 1.5 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 34925 (Gray) Review

Iomega Prestige 1.5 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 34925
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Im not an IT person or hardware expert, just so you know from the start.I do some video editing and have a HUGE iTunes library, so I ran out of room quickly.

I plugged this in, and it worked.That simple.Just shows up as another drive on your 'my computer' window (if you use windows, dont know about Mac).It makes some funny sounds when it fires up, but never had any problems.There is about a 10 second delay after you 'wake' your computer before the drive is accessible, dont see how that would be a problem for most though.

Ive used this for a couple months now.File transfers are fast and I can watch videos and play music directly off of the drive through my computer, dont need to 'transport' them from the drive to my computer to use them.

I like this product, its cheap and works well, lots of room for data and files.

Sorry, Im not a IT guy, or hardware guru, or Id tell you more.But for an average user like me, I love it, never had a problem, and suits my needs perfectly.

Average Reviews:

Not a product for the average person. It is way too hard to operate and not enought advantages. I can not set the time on the unit because it tells me to stop the recording first. Well, it is stopped and it still won't change the time. Tech support refuses to answer the phone. Wait time is up to an hour at which time I give up. I can not save the video to anything since the message is it doesn't understand what is connected. I have tried a thumb drive (flash) and a Maxor hard drive. Neither work. I have no hope of getting it to work through the internet since directions are frustrating and incomplete.
I do not recommend this product for anyone.

This video doorbell was a replacement for another one which was stolen. V-Tech LS6125-2 DECT 6.0 Two Handset Cordless Answering System with Caller ID (Silver/Black) Review

V-Tech LS6125-2 DECT 6.0 Two Handset Cordless Answering System with Caller ID
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Purchased the VTech cordless as cell phone reception in our home was at a minimum.Consumer Reports rates this phone very highly (it is either a "best buy" or very high in the rank list).It uses a frequency that does not interfere with cell phones or other in house electronics.The base charges contains an answering machine.Setup is intuitive.The actual phones (2) are light and slim.There is not a lot of plastic to hold on to which took some getting used to.Voice quality is good.Caller ID is included and the phone has a nice menu system for storing numbers.There is also a pager feature that lets you call the other phone within the house...which is nice for multi-story homes.Overall, good phone and I have no complaints after about 2 months of ownership.

This item is borderline useless.Its images are mostly out of focus; the contrast is so poor you have to know what you are looking at to understand what it is; and the focal length is so long that it's useless in confined spaces.I wish I could return it, but it's non-returnable. D-Link D-Life Internet Surveillance Camera Starter Kit (DHA-390) Review

D-Link D-Life Internet Surveillance Camera Starter Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was very excited looking forward to being able the D-Link D-Life internet survelliance camera to keep an eye on things at home (most notable the dog who likes to eat things while we are out) - I was thrilled at how simple the camera seemed to install yet was very disappointed to discover that it does not really work on a mac.This was not made clear by the product description on Amazon when I ordered it.

You can use this with a mac but you need to have the parallels application to allow windows to be opened and used as I could not access the program using firefox or safari - a royal pain!Note that you must view the video through D-Link's website - it does not open as an application for your computer.

I wish I could give a better review or one that is more in depth or helpful however I was not really able to use the product on my mac.
