(More customer reviews)I have an 800' driveway with a small rise in the middle. The receiver could not pick up the signal from the transmitter until it had a clear line of site with the house.

The system does not put out a very loud or long buzz when an object is detected. An external signaling device, such as your doorbell chime, can be connected to it, but since the base unit requires an outlet it make this a bit difficult. Without the external device you may (probably) not here the signal in another room, especially if you have the radio on (I have not on multiple occasions).

The system has not totally ignored animals. I installed the sensor at the specified height above the ground but it did signal activity a couple of times at night (that I know of) that I think were from the passage of deer.

(More customer reviews)On our 60 acres, thieves had broken into our new home under construction, stealing $19,000 worth of equipment, tools and supplies. After installing the Reporter, a problem arose, every time deer moved about, the alarm would sound and my husband would have to go check it. After many false alarms much to our surprise, one late night, instead of the 4-legged kind of deer, it turned out to be a couple of 2-legged "dears" back again to steal more. We held them at gunpoint until the police arrived and hauled them off to jail for trespassing, burglary and grand theft. We don't care about the times the deer make the alarm go off because we finally caught the thieves. The Reporter lets us know any movement on the driveway coming and going. We are grateful for this little device which has helped us stop the robberies.We're still checking every time the alarm sounds.

(More customer reviews)For my situation...this product works great.A few false alarms, but I dont think thats the fault of the unit.Its just picking up motion from something I havent figured out yet.This unit does not come with an A/C adapter...it should.I will eventually get one.Ive had the patrol about a month now and I am very pleased with it. The only reason I dont give it 5 stars is the lack of an A/C adapter.Of course it would cost more, but I would have liked that option. Possibly another of their products does come with one.So far the batteries are lasting, time will tell how long, and certainly that is going to be dependent on how many times it goes off.There is no volume setting..you only have 3 settings...high...low...and off. That is not an issue for me.For the money this is a great product. It performs for what it is intended for and works for what I wanted it for...which is to alert me when someone enters my drive way. I wanted this unit because my car was recently broken into..I do expect that in the future this unit will alert me to intruders.

(More customer reviews)I bought this thing besides all the negative feedback.For 20$ its much less than the 120$ driveway alarms.the volume is a non issue;If its too loud, put a piece of tape on it.the false alarms can be 99% eliminated and fix the real issue--moisture!!Put the sensor in a 10$ cedar bird house;This keeps it from getting wet and keeps false alarms low.And it hides it from people that would take and disable it.Small animals and windy days can increase the false alarms.okay for 20$, plus 10$ for the bird house (from Lowe's) and 2 cents in tape make a great buy.The range is not 400ft more like 300ft and only one door.
