PROS:Night mode works great, setup was easy, wall mount included, LEDs can be disabled

CONS:Only IE supported (officially), the infrared LEDs can be seen in a dark room

I bought this camera for use as a baby monitor for my daughter.I mounted it on the wall next to her crib, although I didn't use the permanent anchors included - rather used 3M stickys which I can remove easily.The setup was pretty painless; some have reported issues in this department with Trendnet cameras but I did not experience anything out of the ordinary.Even the wireless setup went as planned (please people, follow the directions and set it up with the wired port first!).The camera works great as we can view my daughter via a PC in the bedroom hooked up to the TV.I especially like the feature that allows you to disable the power and network LEDs.This is nice for a dark bedroom.But, I was disappointed to discover that the infrared LEDs still throw a little visible red light in the dark.You can easily see the semi-circle of LEDs with the lights out and although its not bright, it does provide something for the baby to see and be aware of.Occasionally when she wakes up I swear she looks straight into that red circle!Maybe not an issue but I would have preferred for those to be invisible.The other minor issue I have is only supported IE, but I knew this ahead of time so won't spend any more time discussing (see update II).

Update:When I wrote my initial review I complained about having to reboot the camera every day.But, I haven't had to reboot the camera to get it working lately.I can't explain this, perhaps there were wireless issues when I was having difficulties.Either way, the camera made a liar out of me :).So far so good.
Update II:I decided to remove the CON regarding having to reboot daily since the camera has been working fine without reboot for many weeks.The best thing I can think of is that perhaps I was just having network issues.I can't blame the camera so I'm clearing its name :-).I also wanted to add something I discovered tonight, that the camera actually does work in FireFox!It uses a java plugin apparently.I double checked the specs and this is not listed as being supported so perhaps its not supported.I have done very little with it and Firefox so maybe i'll find something negative later but was happy/surprised to see the support there!

(More customer reviews)The thing that I like about this system is that everything is included in the kit.I also liked that it can be viewed over the internet.The software that runs the system is pretty basic, but it does everything that I need it to, so It doesn't bother me at all.The only issue that I have had is that I wish the images were a little clearer (it may actually record clearer than the 7" lcd displays).I have had one minor issue with this kit and that has to do with the mounting hardware for only one of the cameras.It uses a ball and socket design, but didn't tighten enough to hold the camera in place.It's an odd design but has worked with all the other cameras.It may have just been a little off in size...who knows, but I eventually jerry rigged it enough to get it stable.One thing that I was concerned about was the distance of the night vision and that ended up being just over 15 feet.

I would buy this kit again and would recommend it to others because it has so many features at such a great price.From my research, other comparable kits would have ended up being much more than I was prepared to spend.

(More customer reviews)I puchased the defender cameras, but was disappionted when I found out that it will not record both cameras at the same time. You have to switch from one to the other. The DVR does not have picture in picture recording.
Also, the picture quailty on the cameras is poor. So I shopped for another camera online that had the same RCA wires to hook up into the DVR, and that had much better color, and night vison. I can only use the one camera, but its much better than the ones that came with it. It was another $ 75.00 IT was the SVAT camera with night vison of 45ft.The ones that come with the defender only have nightvison of 15ft.

(More customer reviews)This unit works OK with older TrendNet IP cameras, but is not compatible with their newer cameras using 802.11N wireless and/or newer web server firmware, such as the TV-IP512WM.According to their support people, there is no plan to upgrade the TV-M7 for comatibiity.

Also, it does not appear to be able to control the camera steering on a camera such as the TV-IP422W.

Altogether, a disappointing purchase.

Returned items the next day using FEDEX 3 days delivery 26 days later still did not get a refund.Three weeks after I returned the merchandise I received an email telling me they completed testing the items I returned, and that I will hear from them soon. Sorry, defective merchandise, poor performance and poor customer service.

(More customer reviews)I will be the first to admit that I'm not a networking expert or anything, but I am fairly decent at setting up network devices and working on network related issues. That being said, this camera was a pain to set up. After setting everything up and getting to the point where it should be working, it didn't. I then spent another 2 hours on the phone with TRENDnet's tech support, only to have them tell me that the camera is not compatible with Internet Explorer 8, and I needed to use a computer that had Internet Explorer 7. It also does not support full motion video when using Firefox, only 1 still picture per second (what's the point?), and will not work with Safari. Needless to say I returned the camera to Amazon for a refund and got a Sharx Security VIPcella-IR SCNC2607 wireless network camera (also from Amazon) and had it up and running within 10 minutes of taking it out of the box. It's a little pricier, but the time saved setting it up, and the video quality (which was much better than I expected) makes it totally worth it!

Without going into detail about the technical specifications, suffice it to say the graphics are excellent, the display is sharp, the computer is quite fast.

I was a little apprehensive about the size, it is longer than most..almost 15 inches.But it is not heavy.

One bad point is that the built in wifi is the Intel 5100 A/G/N.If you are hoping that this means it will connect at N speeds to your N router..forget it.This card is N in name only and will connect at G speeds max.While a new driver, released after I bought the computer, has made the wifi connection more stable (at work, it would disconnect every 10 minutes or so) it does not make it faster.No combination of adapter or router settings is going to make this connect faster.54Mbs is the best you will get.I am annoyed at this since I have a linksys router and access point at home.Both N.Looks like I am going to have to buy a USB or expresscard adapter to get N speed.Which raises another small point; no PCMCIA card slot.Expresscard only.

The power on button is on the end of the hinge and glows orange and slowly blinks when the computer is off.Looks cool, but definitely don't leave it in the bedroom if you are the "oh my god what the hell is that!" in the middle of the night sort

(More customer reviews)I purchased this notebook from Fry's on 9.25.09. I wanted a notebook with Blu-Ray as I have a player at home and over 100 discs. I wanted to be able to watch then on a notebook when I travel rather than dvd. I also wanted a gaming laptop to play some games on mainly Diablo 3 when it is released. The Blu-Ray playback is great and it looks good, obviously it's best when viewed on a huge hdtv, the smaller the screen size the less amazing it looks. The ATI graphics card is good not great I am able to run Bioshock at max settings but most other games are best at medium settings. The screen is big and perfect for movies as it's 16x9 and gaming as well. It's plenty fast and I am only using Vista Premium 64 as my Windows 7 will be shipped to me in the next few days according to Sony. Only complaints are price, you are paying for name brand so you may not get as much as the competition in terms of specs, but this is one sexy looking computer. The major problem for most would be the audio, it's just too damn low. Since I primarily use it with headphones it's fine as it's excellent when you use headphones. If you want to use it without I suggest getting an external speaker system to solve that problem. To sum it up if you are looking for a laptop with a big screen, Blu-Ray playback and able to play the occasional pc game this is definitely one laptop to consider.

I did a fair amount of research and this was the best deal I found.I haven't had any real issues with interference like some of the other reviews for the same system but only one camera.When my wifi does seem to be not working right I just turn the monitor off for a few minutes.The night light is extremely sensitive and does come on by itself sometimes.I moved the camera to the end of the crib so that if it does come on it isn't shining in my baby's face.The picture quality is great and I have not had an issue with the sound.All in all I think this product is pretty good.If I could change one thing it would be to not have the night light be so sensitive but for the price I can handle this one issue :-)

(More customer reviews)I've had the system installed for a little over a year now and have given up - it's just too flaky.

Probably OK if you are at home and can unplug it every once in a while to force a reboot and re-association with the Z-wave devices, but just not robust enough if you are away for more than a week or two. What happens after a while is either a) the gateway doesn't respond or b) it no longer sees the devices. It would probably help if one could reboot it remotely via the browser, but that isn't possible.

When it works it works fine, but the web browser interface is too limiting and at any one time there is probably a 40-50% probability that remote control over the web will work.

You can also use it to monitor your children or pets, or keep tabs on an elderly family member. And business owners can use the system to keep an eye on their premises or employees.
By connecting the included Pro Internet Gateway to your Internet router, you'll effectively create a wireless network that "connects" your home to the Internet. And by adding HomeRemote Pro accessories to your home, such as the included Pro Door Sensor and Pro Lamp Module, or other HomeRemote Pro-enabled products, such as Electrical Appliance modules and Pro Motion Detectors (sold separately), you'll have the option of remotely controlling your heating and cooling system, lighting, blinds, garage door, and virtually any electrical appliance in your home.
If you want to add surveillance features to your property, by installing HomeRemote Pro video cameras, such as the Wireless Video Camera or Video Camera with Night Vision, you can monitor your premises 24/7 in real time from virtually any place in the world.

At the heart of the HomeRemote Pro System is Z-Wave wireless "mesh" technology, an award-winning wireless standard for home automation. Unlike traditional remote technologies that rely on infrared signals, Z-Wave is not affected by walls or other barriers, and it offers two-way communication, giving you confirmation that your commands were received and executed. With Z-Wave, the guesswork and finger-crossing is taken out of the equation.
Because each "module" or HomeRemote Pro accessory acts as a repeater that extends the distance of the Z-Wave signals, with a few easily installed and strategically placed HomeRemote Pro accessories, your entire home can be covered in a matter of minutes without any hard-wiring or special installation.
Easy Set Up: No Special Tools or Wiring Required
Setting up a HomeRemote Pro Monitoring System up couldn't be easier. Once you connect the Pro Internet Gateway to your router, you log into the HomeRemote Pro Web site, where you can customize your HomeRemote Pro System by naming the rooms in your home. (You can also personalize your HomeRemote Pro Web page with photos of yourself and other custom touches.) Then it's just a matter of plugging accessories into outlets throughout your home and adding them to your system.
The "installation" of HomeRemote Pro accessories is as easy as plugging in one of the several HomeRemote Pro modules into available electrical outlets. Once the modules, which are about the size of typical home appliance timers, are connected, you simply plug your lamp or appliance into it. The modules let you control appliances remotely (you can schedule them, or turn them on or off on demand), and they will also act as "repeaters" that effectively extend your home's Z-Wave wireless network.
You're now ready to control your home through a browser from anywhere in the world. And by adding your cell phone number to your account settings, your Internet-enabled cell phone can be used to control your home and even stream video of particular rooms.

Other HomeRemote Pro Features
The HomeRemote Pro System offers several customization and monitoring features that give you the ultimate in control and oversight of your home.


Using your cell phone, you can access your HomeRemote-connected appliances and surveillance equipment from anywhere. View larger. The system's Scene/Scheduler feature allows you to create a rule that applies to a group of different appliances. For example, instead of turning all your lights off one by one from your cell phone as you're leaving your house, you can set a Scene called "All Lights Off" that turns off all your lights with the press of a button, or turns them off on schedule you've created.
The Alerts and Notifications feature send email and text (SMS) message alerts to designated recipients whenever a specific event, such as the opening of a door, occurs within a room. Device Linking allows one module or sensor to trigger other modules to turn on or off. Opening a door, for instance, could trigger all the lights in your home to turn on.
And to help you keep an eye on your property, Activity Logs let you view recent and past events in your home if you suspect suspicious activity, or if you simply want to monitor your home while you're away.

The HomeRemote Pro System can be customized to grow as your needs grow. New modules and sensors can be added at anytime. You can add additional HomeRemote Pro Wireless Door Sensors, Motion Detectors, Appliance Modules and Lighting Modules, or specialty products, such as window shades, thermostats, garage door openers, keyless door locks, light switches, and outdoor lighting modules from other HomeRemote Pro compatible manufacturers. The HomeRemote Pro System is compatible with all products featuring the award-winning Z-Wave technology logo.

(More customer reviews)With video surveillance systems with DVR and 4 cameras pricing out around $1,100, I was thrilled to discover this 4-channel PC card that comes with two cameras for around $200.It probably would not have been such a deal if I had had to purchase a PC and graphics card, but I had both sitting around.I've been installing accessory adapters since 5-1/4" floppies were popular, so I had no trouble with the installation, but it really was not difficult.The DVR software that comes with the product has a lot of features you would expect to find in something costing a lot more.
My only disappointment with the system is the remote access.Initially, I was able to access the PC on the network and view live or recorded video.But after moving it to another location, I seem to have lost that ability.Q-See support is very poor.

(More customer reviews)I got this card for two reasons, the geotagging and the ability to just turn your camera on and have all the pictures uploaded automatically.

The geotagging works when there are Wi-Fi signals nearby, as the card uses those signals and a database to identify where it is.This feature seems to work well with that limitation.My problem with the feature is that the geotagging only works though if you wirelessly upload the pictures.Which leads me to the second issue.

The wireless upload is exceptionally slow.You get no indication on your camera that the upload has started or if there are any problems.You can sign up for email, SMS or Twitter updates, but it would be nice to see this on the camera.The upload is very, very, very slow.I had 100 pictures and it took over 2 hours.My camera batteries depleted themselves twice during this process.

It would be much better if you could still use the included SD/USB adapter to upload your pictures and retain the geotagging information.

With a 4GB SD card only costing $15-20 these days, you are paying at least an $80 premium for the wireless uploading and geotagging.I wish those both worked a little better.
